I'm obsessed with children's stories. books and all.. but one thing i believe i do more even than movies is watch Halloween cartoons.. Ones like (of course) The Great Pumpkin :), Witches in Stitches, the Halloween Tree, ect.

I"m interested to hear about what you've seen and love. Maybe i'll find something i haven't seen and thanks to you i can add it to my collection. i'll be posting a list of my favorites soon!

Hi Adrian!

I really like the original Garfield Halloween cartoon - just something about it that was appealing. It's the one with the neat little adventure with pirate ghosts on an island. Don't know if they broadcast it these days though. "candy candy candy candy candy !! "

I love children's books, too - most especially the ones with great illustrations. Have you ever read The Mad Scientist's Club? If not, you should check it out. I remember my brother getting this book through The Weekly Reader when we were little, and I loved that book so much - probably more than my brother did! Here's a link in case you'd like to see what it's about (if you don't already know!)

Hope ya like it.

The Garfield Halloween episode is a classic, right up there with It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.

I have a few VHS tapes with old, VERY cherished Halloween cartoons/specials that my mom recorded off TV when my brother, sister, and I were little. I swear I'm having them transferred to DVD this year cuz if something ever happened to them, I'd seriously freak out.

I've got this at home http://www.amazon.com/Sony-VRD-MC1-DVDi ... B000CQDHY8 and if you can spend around $200 it's worth it if you have a lot of not-on-DVD-yet VHS tapes that you want to preserve.

It as simple as it gets, no computer required. You plug your A/V cable from the tape deck directly into the burner, cue up the tape, start the VHS and them press record on the Sony. It plays in real time so you have to wait until the tape is done playing, but you can choose 4 speeds of record and get many hours of video transferred to one DVD.

The very first tape I transferred was 'Night Of The Comet' because it appears that it will never see the light of day on DVD due to copyright issues.

I was digging through a box of tapes last month and discovered I still had Disney's Halloween Special from the early 80's and ran it through the machine immediately!!

There are newer models of this and other makers, but this one is plug & play and totally easy.

It really is the way to go.

There are so many films not on DVD because someones ego or pocketbook gets in the way, or you were lucky enough to tape a one time only TV broadcast, and want to preserve it.

BTW: you can also connect via S-Video and composite, when I tried it I only had A/V cables, so this weekend I'm re-recording with S-vid.

A few years ago I found a couple of vintage 1920's Halloween cartoons like "the Skeleton Dance", and "Mickey Mouse in the Haunted House" and burned them to a VCD. They're on my annual Halloween viewing list along with the other classics "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown", and "the Halloween Tree".

All of them are mpeg files over 50MB. I have a slow 56k internet connection and I've never been able to upload anything successfully to the usenet binary groups. Any suggestion how to make them available at no cost?
