Are You Afraid of the Dark?

Post by magickbean » Sun Sep 30, 2007 5:57 pm

Ok, please tell me that I'm not completely "in the dark" on this one.. (y'see what I did there?! HA! Oh puns.. right, anywho..) does anyone remember the show called "Are You Afraid of the Dark"??

It used to be aired on Nickelodeon in 1992 - 1996..and it was usually in the evening - the last show before Nickelodeon shut down for the night.

I saw a video clip of it on someone's Myspace and the memories came flooding back! Nostalgia aside, I realise now that some of the stories were actually quite horrific for a kid's programme  hehe. Just wondering if anyone else remembers watching this, and if so - what was your favourite episode? :)

I haven't seen that show. But back in the days when WB kids rocked, they used get kids to stay in Haunted Places, and set up cameras inside that watched for ghosts.

Man, I have the complete series of Eerie Indiana. I love every minute of it, especially when in the second episode it revealed that the map of Eerie has the same Geographical design as the Bermuda Triangle. Wicked.

Cool, recorded it on VCD, but my absolute fav is the one where a kid, his sister and his friend are lost and he stumbles into a tree and he plays a game where whatever happens to the game happens to his friend and sister, and if he doesn't win, he's stuck in the tree forever!!!

I may have watched one or two episodes as a kid... I can't remember any specific episodes though. But I did read one of their books. It was about this kid that keeps going through this magic gate that takes him to an alternate version of his world...hoping to find a better version...except each version of his world gets worse and worse...eventually he finds his way back...it's very interesting. I always liked the concepts of alternate realities...
This probably seems crazy, crazy, a graveyard theory,
A ghost tried to approach me and got leery.
Ask him a question and he vanished in a second...

The NeverEnding Game, I believe. That's one of my faves too! They're all so good (and some are a bit intense for the little kids). Hell, I still watch them from time to time.
A gentle breeze rustling the dry cornstalks.
A sound is heard, a goblin walks.
A harvest moon suffers a black cat's cry.
Oh' do the witches fly!
Bonfire catches a pumpkins gleem.
Rejoice, it's Halloween!

Another fav of mine is The Tale of the Prom Queen

Your basic ghost story.

Girl gets a date. Girl gets hit by a car. Boy gets upset. Boy drives off a bridge. Girl haunts a cemetary looking for her date.

And of coarse to top it off, a twist ending.

Of coarse there are signs, like "keen"

If you saw it, you would know what I mean! :P
