For people who don't want to break the bank this Halloween season, we can post here for ideas on really inexpensive costumes. Off hand, I can think of the ghost costume as perhaps the least expensive. All you do is take a white sheet and cut holes in it for the eyes, nose and mouth, and there you have it.

They have "instant" costumes at walmart, consisting of a tee shirt that comes with a mask or pair of cat ears. Or you get these little kits that come with cat ears and tail, or devil horns and tail etc.

I have had these two costumes for several years. One a friar and one a nun.
Both cost less than $30. Needed a few extras like the cross ( that can be used both both)
Won a prize in 2009 for the nun outfit.

You can get off of internet or at stores like Party City.

The white cloth idea is good enough...but to have a better one, try body painting.. hmmm that's cheap too huh!

When going cheap, the old Halloween staples are the way to go: Ghost, Scarecrow, Witch, Vampire, etc. They can be compiled from clothes (or, for the ghost, sheets) found around the house or Goodwill. They can also be purchased cheaply at almost any Halloween/department store. Additionally, you can customize these character to your own personality.

Can't remember where I saw it, but I recently saw a photo of a couple kids dressed as salt and pepper shakers. Looked like the costumes were made out of cardboard.
