My Friend's Halloween Costume

my friend has no idea what to be for halloween, and i'm can't think of one for him. he said he doesnt want something necessarily funny, but not really common. for example, he doesn't want something common, like Harry Potter, Spiderman, Superman, vampire, wizard. anyone got any ideas?

I was thinking of either being Al Jolson from the 'Jazz Singer' or a circus midget. Maybe one of those might suit him.
