A pumpkin mask?

For halloween this year, i was thinking about being some kind of zombie pumpkin guy, but i haven't been able to find an evil pumpkin mask. Is there anyplace that might have it or something similar? Thanks for the help and halloween rules!

you could easliy make one. you can use latex or even simple paper or card board with lots of paint for texture. good luck.

ok, but lets say i was to lazy to do that... are there any stores that sell them?

you know, i haven't seen any, but maybe you could check online, but it could be too late in the season to recieve it by halloween. back to what i was saying, i love making halloween crafts, you may have alot of fun doing it!

i just had a thought, maybe you could use a real giant pumpking to wear on your head, but then again, it would probably smell real bad by the end of the night!

What about painting a large cauldron orange and cutting holes in it for eyes? You'd also want to think of a way to make the inside adjustable so it doesn't slip off your head or bang around... so maybe put some poly fiber fill or small pillows in it to stabalize it. *shrug*

.......wait how do you cut a cauldron? aren't those things like.... metal?

There are PLASTIC ones in the stores. But spraying them orange will take a few coats to do a GOOD job.

I know that Spirit stores send via delivery and my stuff was ordered and arrived a week later. That INCLUDED the week end. So I'd check out Spirit.com But QUICK.

I meant a plastic one... but if you know how to weld and have a metal one, that'd work too; though, it would be REALLY heavy to put on your head. I'd also recommend hot gluing or elastic-izing a hat to the "bottom" (which would be the top) of the PLASTIC cauldron.... because that part of the PLASTIC cauldron is likely to be flat and you'll need to hide it somehow.

Acrylic paint on a plastic cauldron should only take a couple coats. Especially if it's primed first. You'd have to have someone airbrush (or you could just paint on) another colour to get the appearance of ridges.

The best place to find a plastic cauldron is probably Party City. I know the one near me has a whole mess of them (almost an entire half-aisle). Witches are BIG this year, so you shouldn't have much trouble finding one "last-minute" like this.

Are there Funkins large enough to fit over someone's head? I'd try something like that since they're lightweight, already orange and easy to carve. Just a thought.

Good Idea, LawP-- it's certainly something to check out.

They should have the fake pumpkins on sale at craft stores. JoAnn's or Michael's would have them. I personally prefer the ones from Michael's because they look more realistic-- that's my opinion. I'm not certain if they come large enough to completely put 'round your head, but I'd wager you COULD cut the back out and make a mask by attaching an elastic band to hold it in place. You could hot-glue orange fabric to the back to cover the hole... and still wear a hat or something.

OR you can wear one of those black-out hoods, where the face is blacked out, but you can see out but to everyone else, they can't see your face inside. Maybe some sort of battery operated LEDs or mini light bulbs can be saftey pinned to the hood, so that the pumpkin would glow?

But I would cut out the bottom of the funkin, and feel around the outside of the pumpkin, while wearing it. You can figure out where the eye holes should go a little better that way. Then make a few small holes, just to check to see if their lining up right. The hood would also help keep the foamy crumbs from landing in your eyes.

Then carve the eyes in it. You can then base all the other features from there to carve a decent face in it.

Oh. Right up to now, it sounds like you would still be wearing the pumpkin and carving it at the same time. Suffice to say, I was taking it for granted that you'd remove the pumpkin before carving.
