Want to have stuff for adults and kids.

Hi Marti!

Welcome to Halloween forum!

So, you don't want anything scarier because of your daughter? What are you going to look for? Party banners? Party plates, napkins, punch bowl, anything like that? I highly recommend you go to the Party City.

Martha,

When my daughter was younger, we used to get most of our Halloween ideas (both costume and decor) from Family Fun magazine. They have great how-tos. Look at familyfun.com, I'm sure you'll find lots of stuff.

Wooo Hooo party at Martha's house!!

I think you will find lots of kid friendly ideas in family magazines. I believe family circle doessome cute ideas and Woman's day. Make sure if you are inviting adults to make sure to put on invites to keep the scary costumes at home and only wear kid friendly attire. You also want to avoid the slutty nurse from showing up with her girls popping out. I would think lots of pumpkins and streamers. Perhaps get your daughter in on the fun of decoration and looking through magazines. If you go online you can request catalogs (they should come in a few weeks)

Here are some catalogs you might like
Oriental Trading
Lillian Vernon
shindigz

last year I had a "halloweenie" roast. along with smores, chips, dip, etc. had it right in my front yard. It was awesome. since I already had decorated my front yard for halloween I didn't have to buy any more decorations for the party. we had a little fire pit that we had bought at target a year before that we drug out into the driveway and everyone sat around it lawn chairs. neighborhood kids all played games, took pictures with the zombies, etc. all I payed for were the hot dogs and charcole everyone else brought different things. we had 45 people show up. 30 which were actually invited the other 15 saw what was going on and came over to join in the fun.

I didn't have a single problem. other than melted chocolate and marshmellows on my driveway. if you set up an area around the camp fire ( and I mean I actually roped off an area) where there is no running and kids cannot go without the parents supervision. common sense and decent parenting can help you have a great party. I was actually more worried about all my yard props being manhandled than any fire/kids issues.
