I LOVE that movie! I really do like the fact that it wasn't really gory at all.iHaunt wrote:Yes, there's a movie called "Killer Klowns From Outer Space" which was made in 1988. It creeps me!

Re: I Hate Clowns!
Oh yeah and I forgot to mention that there's an old cemetery right next to it : )
I've taken to reading "Weird Las Vegas and Nevada", a book that covers all of the tourist and roadside oddities of the Silver State. As a Vegas local who has taken to trying out some of the highlighted sights, I decided to check out the bizarrely fascinating Clown Motel.
It's about 3 1/2 hours from Vegas, so don't expect to pop over there, but the drive is scenic and interesting.
Once there....
There's a lot of people who hate clowns. I've never suffered the phobia myself, but admittedly, Pennywise the Clown from Stephen King's "It" freaks my peaches. This is going to do nothing to change your mind. Everything is clown themed. There are clowns on the guest doors. And in the main lobby are shelves upon shelves of clown themed memorabilia. It's a lot of clowns.
Initially, the desk clerk looked at me like I was nuts when I strolled in and announced that while I didn't want a room, I wanted to just take pictures of his Clown Motel. But I showed him the book and explained my quest of visiting the weird, and he warmed up quickly after that. Nice fellow, and answered all of my questions, and was just a generally good sport.
The place is old, but was kept up well. Also of note, the motel is situated next to a graveyard from the early 1900's. Kind of an interesting side history lesson and made for some interesting photographs, but it's probably not going to further the case for clownophobes. Still, the desk person said that even those who have a bit of fear actually had a good time with the place regardless. The place has a sense of humor and novelty, regardless of the subject matter.
The bottom line: Would I stay here? I personally don't fear clowns, the place was kept up well, and the guy behind the desk was friendly. So I would have to say "yes". It just seems too compelling not to want to stay if in the area, and the positives outweigh anything else.
Even if you don't stay, at least check out the lobby. It's intriguing.

Oh and another thing, I forgot our parakeets that were in the cage in our room. I accidentaly left them there, by the time I realized it we were far far away. We were in a moving truck and were really tired. Poor parakeets! I'm sure the hotel staff found them and took care of them.

LOL The BK guy IS ultra creepy with that big stupid fake grin. Makes me wanna smack him! LOL
I hope the clownies didn't eat'em. *darn* do I feel bad now! Poor keets.
I'm not too scared of clowns, it's the person underneath that I'm afraid of. What are they trying to hide?

Re: I Hate Clowns!
yea the King commercials are creepy to me too
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

It's a relief to hear that I'm not the only one who thinks that the BK king is uber-creepy.
Pennywise was designed to be scary, BK just turned out that way.

If I ever become a zombie, the first people I'm going after are the clowns.
Though I'm a bit worried they may taste funny. BaDaBing!!

I fear very little and I'm obsessed with what others fear. That means, I like scary clowns.
