Re: Halloween Culture/Society
Nor can I, and hope never to have to. But at least in my lifetime I will celebrate it as along as I am able. And when I go, there will be a huge pile of Halloween books, movies, and collectibles. I hope there next owners enjoy them and keep the holiday as well. I would die truly happy knowing that ...

Re: Is Halloween Dying?
Indeed, it would be.
I honestly cannot think of a better place to be than with others who have chosen to devote their very existence to all that is Halloween.

I'm very much in the same situation.
Trying to enjoy summer for the sake of summer, but the pull of Halloween is just too strong.

Re: Is Halloween Dying?
I couldn't have said it better myself. That was incredibly well written. Thank you, my friend. You truly understand the reason for the season. I actually am on something of a mission to seek out those that have the Halloween spirit within them and bring them together. Perhaps we could start our own...

You couldn't be more right, my friend.
I too hope that Halloween will live on long after I'm gone.
It is one of our oldest and (to me) most sacred of holidays.
I cannot fathom a world without it.

Is Halloween Dying?
I'm sure this subject has been posted on this forum a few times before, but it's a matter that troubles me. It just feels like Halloween might be declining in popularity, tradition, and interest. I always hear people talking about the lack of trick-or-treaters every year. Will the tradition of Tric...

Re: Halloween Culture/Society
You make an interesting point about the current cultural fascination with the supernatural beneath the mask of the everyday. (I believe you left out Grimm, one of my favorite TV shows, when you listed others, but that just goes to show how many TV shows & movies there are like this right now. T...

Re: Halloween Culture/Society
I think Christmas (winter solstice celebrations, etc.) is pretty primal, too. I guess, if you take both of them back to their roots in early agricultural societies, Halloween is about the fear of the approaching winter season, and Christmas is about celebrating that we have survived it and will pro...

Halloween Culture/Society
Of my personal opinion, it seems that Halloween has more going for it than any other holiday. It's based and rooted in one of the most fundamental and primal aspects of life: Fear. All living things feel fear. The original fear, the fear of death, is what sparked Halloween's origin, Samhain, in the...
