Re: Are y'all ready for Easter?
I think he'd have done fine if he'd just left off the sour patch candies and the sucker at the end. Chocolate, peanuts, Graham crackers, and vanilla pudding should have worked. Part of what ruined my Easter treats, imo, was the jelly bean eggs. That flavor profile didn't work well with chocolate bro...

Re: Gardening
Thanks for the link. I had no idea tarantulas were such a big deal in the Bay area.

Re: Are y'all ready for Easter?
Well, that's true. I hadn't thought of that. However, I have all these marshmallows I overbought for that Easter treat, and I need to use them up.
Btw, I'm never making those things again. They were cute to look at, but a chore to eat. Just way too sweet. S'mores will be subdued compared to them.

Re: Gardening
Omg, tarantulas in the move on herds! Did you ever get any pictures? The cicadas are a phenomenon, for sure. They are maybe 1 1/2 to 2 inches long, with dark bodies, translucent orange-ish wings, and red eyes. They are harmless to people; you can hold them. But the eggs they lay will kill young tree...

Re: Are y'all ready for Easter?
I'm going to try making them in the oven. I've used the microwave in the past, but the marshmallows puff up weirdly in that.
My husband is not a s'mores fan. He's never said exactly why, but it could be the marshmallows.

Re: Gardening
Wow, what a great garden! Something got to my tomato seedlings, which I'd had germinating under a plastic cover in the carport. It nibbled every leaf off all but two of them. The lid was undisturbed, so it must have been some type of insect. Of course I planted the two seedlings I had left, which so...

Re: Are y'all ready for Easter?
I have lots of marshmallows left over from that Easter treat. Tonight I bought for s'mores.

Re: Happy Walspurgisnacht 2024
For the last few years I've been having nice summer vacations, but starting last year they seem to have been skewed toward June rather than late July/August, which I prefer. In early June I'll be spending a few days in Chicago, courtesy of my older son, who is giving me the trip as a belated Mother'...

Re: Happy Walspurgisnacht 2024
Well, after all, it is May. We're a little cooler now (70s) because we had a storm front push through on Weds. In fact, school has been called off yesterday and today due to flooding and downed trees. We see no evidence of either in our neighborhood, but other parts of the county have been affected,...

Ah. I expect that is tasty, though I try to avoid fried chicken when I'm out. I usually go with grilled.

I haven't tried that. What makes it crunchy?

Indeed! Six months off from the big day! And, perhaps, an excuse to screen a horror flick or three.

Re: Are y'all ready for Easter?
Just wanted to report that I did finally make those Easter treats I spoke of. It was my daughter's birthday on Sunday, and since I'd already bought for those things back at Easter, I went ahead and made them. They aren't hard--a brownie base; a nest of crunchy Chinese noodles coated in melted butter...

Re: Gardening
It's been a long time since I frequented any of those places, but I always thought Wendy's had the best burgers. Nowadays, if I go there, I tend to get their apple pecan salad. Not sure if we have In & Out Burgers around here. I think I've seen them mostly out West. But all the chains seem to ge...
